How to pay overtime for salaried employees

Use case

You may need to pay one or multiple salarid employees an additional bonus on top of their monthly salary, additional hours worked in the month. This can be for on-call hours or overtime for example.

How to

This is a very similar process to adding a bonus.


  1. Go to the Payroll tab

  2. Click on the current pay period

  3. Scroll down to the team member you want to add a bonus for

  4. Expand their row by clicking on it

  5. Click the “+ Add bonus” button

6. Add the bonus amount and the payment reason (e.g additional pay, overtime or on-call hours).


You can also add the number of hours worked (e.g overtime - 15h).


7. Click on "pensionable", unless agreed otherwise with the employee.

ℹ️ Pensionable just means that the "bonus" will be added to the total amount subject to employee and employer's pension contributions.

8.The numbers will update instantly. The description you choose will appear on the payslip on the “bonus” line item, so that your team member can see why the bonus was added.

Updating or removing the bonus

If you want to update or remove the bonus, use the 📝 icon and edit directly there.
