If you're not receiving the automated tax notifications from HMRC, there could be a couple of reasons why. In this article, we'll go through the steps to help you resolve this issue.

If you have configured automated notifications and received one after a payrun has been completed (e.g. you ran payroll on the 24th but the change came through on the 25th or later), the change will not take effect until the next payrun.

You don't have automated tax notifications set up

If you've missed setting up automated tax notifications during onboarding, it means that tax notifications are not being sent to Onfolk. It's worth double checking this in your HMRC portal to make sure it's set up.

If you haven't done this, please follow the instructions to set up the automated tax notifications outlined in this help article.

Once you have completed these steps, you should start receiving automated tax notifications from HMRC.

I've set up automated tax notifications, but I don't know if they're coming through

If you have already set up automated tax notifications, but are unsure if they are being sent to you, head to the HMRC messages section of the app where you'll see all notifications that we've been sent on your behalf.

Note that there may be a delay in HMRC sending out tax notification letters. For example:

  • HMRC sends the tax notification letter out on the 10th

  • You update the automated notification setting on the 11th

Because it may take a few days for HMRC to send you the letter. In this case, the notification that would have been recorded on or before the 10th will not be sent to Onfolk.

If you are still not receiving automated tax notifications after following these steps, please contact our customer support team for further assistance.
